How we test
Measured, not copied from the box.
Every ring fact on this site comes from a recording of a real ring. Here is how we make those recordings, and what we do when we haven't made one yet.
Rings
We record the ring itself.
We connect our own Colmi R10 to a computer and record every message it sends: its stored history and its live readings. We note the date and the ring's firmware, then read the numbers out of the recording.
We don't copy ring facts from the maker's spec sheet, and we don't count a feature until we've seen the ring hand over its data.

The words we use
Measured, pending, tested.
- Measured means we saw it in a recording of our ring.
- Pending means we haven't recorded it yet, so we say so instead of guessing.
- Tested, on a ring, means we've recorded that ring's data ourselves. Expected means it's the same family, but we haven't tested it yet.
Sample numbers
Samples say so.
The app's numbers on this site, like a body age or a night of sleep, belong to made-up people we create for testing, never to a real person's ring. Each one is labelled as a sample or as synthetic data.
On the Shelf
A grade on every food and supplement.
The Shelf gives each food and supplement an evidence grade, A, B or C, and links the studies behind it on the page. A means consistent human trials and meta-analyses; B, some human trials, but small or mixed; C, mostly mechanistic or observational.
Money
How we make money.
The app is free. The Shelf earns a commission when you buy through its links. Notes and ring pages on vesofit.com carry no shop links; they point to the Shelf's page, where the commission is stated next to the button.
Changes
When a new recording changes a fact, we change the page and its date.
